BLACK BELT SUCCESS STORY

Jacob Wall, First Dan Black Belt

Picture

fun Fact

He loves learning about military history, astrophysics, and philosophy, as well as medieval weaponry. He also enjoys a good game of chess as well as Chinese chess. He is also an avid USC and Dallas Cowboys fan.

How It All Started...

Jacob's journey into martial arts began when he was six years old in a program known as Young Champions under the tutelage of Sensei Tony. He steadily attended classes until he was 15 years old. Having achieved his black belt by that time, he decided to focus on college. While pursuing a college education, he took a 14-year hiatus from martial arts for self-discovery and development. Jacob's desire to re-engage his martial art journey came when he was in basic training at Fort Benning. The experiences at Fort Benning made Jacob realize how much he missed martial arts and still needed to learn. He came home and started looking for a new dojo and style to learn. Remembering Renshi Matt and his program, he reached out to him and after getting reacquainted, he was welcomed into the Erolin 3D Martial Arts dojo family.

Though he had earned his Black Belt from another system, Jacob tested in as a Red Belt and a year later earned an opportunity to test for his Brown Belt.  After earning his Brown Belt, he never let off the gas so to speak, working harder and training smarter to earn his opportunity to test for First Dan Black Belt. After a grueling evaluation in the midst of a pandemic, he finally earned his First Dan in October 2020. Seeing others learn and grow really brightens his day and brings great joy into his life.

Jacob's quote:
Your greatest adversary in life will never be the one you meet in the ring; rather it will be the one from within: yourself.
